Wedding: Thomas & Tupling

All the principals in a wedding at Denaby on Sunday wore Salvation Army uniform.  The bride was Captain Ellen Mary Thomas, who was the Army captain of Denaby from May to November last year.  She was transferred to Woodhouse and has been an officer at Garforth and Leeds.  She was married to Bandsman Albert Edward Tupling, of Cadeby Avenue, Denaby.  He is the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Tupling, and his mother is treasurer of the Home League of the Army.

The ceremony was performed by Brigadier Noble, and officers from all over South Yorkshire attended.  Captain Thomas and Bandsman Tupling wore full uniform and the bride had over her tunic a broad silk sash.

The bridesmaid was Lieut. Whalley, who was the bride’s lieutenant at Leeds and Garforth, and the best man Bandsman Norman Tupling.  At the ceremony the bridesmaid and best man addressed the congregation on behalf of the bride and bridegroom.

A reception was held at the home of the bridegroom’s sister, Mrs. Stevenson, Barnsley Avenue.  The couple left for a few days at Leeds.
