Tap Room Say “Thank You!”

A Denaby bride, Miss Helen Watson, received a surprise send-off for her big day yesterday when she was given a special guard of honour by the ladies of the tap room of her father’s pub, the Reresby Arms.

The women customers of the hotel formed a guard outside the Reresby Arms with hoops tied together and draped with flowers when she left for church.

Helen served behind the bar at the Reresby Arms and her customers thought it would be a good idea to give her an extra special send-off in appreciation of all that she has done for them in the past.

She was married at Mexborough Parish Church to Mr. Kenneth Allen (Mexborough).

The couple have known each other for about 16 months and after the ceremony and a reception at the pub they left for a honeymoon in Holland.

The bride’s mother Mrs. Ivy Watson, explained the idea behind the guard “Helen has always been popular with the tap room ladies. It was a great idea and a big surprise for her”

Helen’s husband, John, is in the Merchant Navy and they will live in Albert Road, Mexborough.
