Wee Willie Due To ‘Rock’ Conisbro’

Wee Willie Harris was big 10 years ago, after his pink haired panel playing explosion into rock ‘n’ roll music. He should play a few evocative tunes on local heartstrings next week when he provides race week entertainment at Conisbrough Mona club.

Wee Willie who has topped many a continental bill in the intervening years, comes to  Conisbrough on Sunday to fill the spot all week.

Bill Bailey, Mona concert secretary, is delighted to have secured his talents and those of a top flight support bill.

The brand new Mona is no stranger to the sort of music made Willie’s name eight weeks ago it became the scene of regular Wednesday “beat nights,” with a concert room dancing capacity of about 450. The Mona committee are so pleased with the response after persistent pleas from dance fans, they have agreed to extend the sessions to Friday also.

The trustees say, “the Wednesday night sessions proved so popular and so successful that when the youngsters asked was for an extra night could hardly think of refusing. We bought top name groups, and never a hint of trouble.”
