Were Orange Lights Flying Saucers?

It was a quiet March evening when a Conisbrough schoolboy spotted them – three orange lights in the sky. Were they flying saucers from outer space, if further secret development our own space race, are merely a mirage?

Stephen Pratt (14), of 11 Leslie Avenue, Conanby, Conisbrough is certain he saw something peculiar on March 28th. So is his father, Mr Walter Pratt, his mother Mrs Teresa Pratt, and his 10 years old brother Kevin.

Stephen, a pupil of Conisbrough North I School, watched the three U.F.O.’s – Unidentified Flying Objects – for about 40 minutes before they disappeared in the direction of Rotherham and Sheffield. Even took a photograph which went develop short three dark objects, roughly oval, apparently hanging in the sky over the Conanby estate.

It seems no one on the estate outside the Pratt family witness the occurrence. Following up the report of another witness, the “South Yorkshire Times” was unable to corroborate a rumour that another Conanby woman saw a glowing object, sausage shape, flying over on the same evening.

Travelled Slowly

Stephen told our reporter, “It was about 9 PM when I saw them, there were three lights in the sky. I thought at first they were the lights of a plane, but they were too far apart and they were travelling very slowly over Conanby. I took the photograph, although I didn’t think it would turn out. When it was developed, the objects looked very slowly over Conanby. I didn’t think they were flying saucers at the time – now I just don’t know what to think.”

Stephen’s father commented, “Two of the three objects moved further away, but one remained stationary, quite close, for about 10 minutes. It was glowing and it appeared to be circular, like a tyre, with a dome shape in the centre.

“I can’t think that it was a kind of reflection or an army flare or anything like that. I dare say various countries are putting up all sorts of things that we don’t know about – perhaps it was something like that.”
