West Riding Police
At the Doncaster West Riding Police Court on Saturday, Thomas Cooke, collier, Bolton-on-Dearne, was fined 5s. and 10s. costs, for being drunk and disorderly at Arlington, the Monday night before.
Frederick Ogby, labourer, Conisbro’, for being drunk and disorderly on the 2nd inst., was fined 10s. and 10s. costs.
Harry Hopkinson, collier, Mexbro’, was fined 5s. and 12s. 6d. costs, for being drunk on the 4th inst.
Thomas Stead, labourer, Mexbro’, was ordered to pay 10s. and costs, for being drunk in the Golden Fleece, Mexbro’, the Saturday before.
Thomas Skelton, joiner, Swinton, for being drunk in the Masons’ Arms, Mexbro’, the Tuesday night before, was fined 10s. and 12s. 6d. costs.
Charles Wm. Hutton, a lad, was summoned by John Hanson, blacksmith, Barnbro’, for disobeying his master’s orders. Defendant was bound to the complainant from the Union, by the Guardians, in June, 1879. At first he was a good lad, and learnt his trade, but latterly, by getting with bad companions, refused to obey his master’s orders. The lad was ordered to go back to work and fulfil his contract.
