This mining village was en fete yesterday owing the demonstration on the part of the Sunday school children, who processioned the main Street, many of them being seated in decorated wagonettes. The parents much enjoyed the singing of the children, who afterwards had tea, which was freely provided for them various schools.

This historical village was visited yesterday by thousands from various parts of South Yorkshire, and from the neighbouring towns Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley, and Doncaster.
The weather was fine during most of the day, and the result was that the riser Don was lively with boating, and many persons crowded the precincts of the ancient castle ruins and strolled along the extensive and picturesque crags.
The Sunday school children had their usual Whitsuntide arrangements.
