Whitsuntide at Denaby Main

Glorious weather has been the order of the weekend. Whitsuntide is really the children’s holiday, and some very pretty scenes have been witnessed in the various processions.

On Sunday morning the Wesleyan, primitive Methodist and Salvation Army scholars paraded the streets, and on Sunday afternoon the church Sunday schools.

At the parish church in the evening some of the scholars were in attendance and the special hymns were sung.

On Monday the special feature was the Roman Catholic procession, which was a repetition of the May Day celebrations procession.

In the afternoon the scholars of the various schools held their usual Whitsun treat.

The chapels and the Church scholars visited fields in Old Denaby and had tea. The Roman Catholics had tea in the Rossington street schools and the Salvation Army in the red rose field.
