Wilful Damage

Four Conisborough pit hands, Reginald Skelton (18), Stanley Boult (18), Sidney Lawrence (17) and Arthur Green, were each fined 5s. at Doncaster on Saturday for wilful damage to a hedge, to the amount of 4s., belonging to the Barnsley Co-operative Society.

P.C. Yeomans said the youths left their bicycles in Village Wood Lane, Sprotbrough, and made a large gap in the hedge to get into the wood. They told him they were getting nuts, and did not know it was a “summonsing wood.”
