Woman Organist at Conisborough.
Eight years ago the Vicar, then the late Rev. W. A. Strawbridge, appointed Mrs. W. Burton to be deputy organist at Conisborough Parish Church, and turning up the records found that she was the first woman to hold such a post.
The organist, Mr. J. U. Currier, of Mexborough, has just resigned, and Mrs. Burton has now been appointed organist.
Mrs. Burton is the accompanist to the St. Peter’s Operatic Society, which is composed of Parish Church members.
