Wounded after 10 months of fighting.
Private J Woodward, Conisbrough

Private James Woodward, R.F.A.,has returned wounded to his home, Station road, Conisbrough, after 10 months continuous service in the firing line in Flanders.

He was called up as a reservist on 5 August last year, and proceeded to France on the 12th August. Private Woodward escaped injury for 10 months, though he has been in many dangerous engagements.

He was severely wounded on 10 June in the arm and hip. Mrs Woodward has a splinter of shell, which was extracted from one of the wounds. She has many memento, including a ring of German infantryman and aeroplane steel darts.

Private Woodward arrived in Conisbrough last Thursday with a bandaged arm and with a week’s leave of absence.

His brother, Trevor Woodward, is a member of the Indian expeditionary force. He fought at La Bassee and Ypres and has also been wounded.

Mrs Woodward’s brother, Thomas Parrish, is serving with the six Dragoon guards.

Truly the Woodward family and relatives have loyally responded to their countries call.
