“Wrong People Present.”
Demand That Conisborough Council Business Be Cancelled.
Contending that the meeting had not been properly called, Councillor H. Gillott at last night’s meeting of the Conisborough Urban District Council urged that the business should be cancelled as members who should have been there had not been notified, and those who shouldn’t have been there had been notified.
A new member, Councillor T. Morgan, said that he got his notice at 4.35, for 6 p.m. that day and Councillor Gillott said that the meeting had been called for 5 p.m. He further alleged that Mr. Morgan had been fetched to the meeting. The suggestion was not sustained.
Councillor Mrs. Donaghue said that the public appeal for the Conanby fire victims had realised over £39, and the Council agreed that the two parties who lost their homes should each be allocated half the amount.
The Council’s Special Committee decided to meet the Mexborough Council with a view to amalgamation, and Councillor Gomersall remarked that they should get it over soon as they could.
