Mr. B. H. Pickering’s Appointment

Mr. Basil H. Pickering, Stone Grange near Maltby, who joined the Yorkshire, Amalgamated Collieries group in 1923 as agent of the Rosslngton and Maltby Main Collieries, has been appointed general  manager of the Denaby, Cadeby and Maltby collieries

He has previously been agent of the Denaby and Cadeby Collieries and assistant general manager of Maltby pit. Mr. Pickering, whose father, Mr W. H. Pickering, a Divisional Inspector of Mines, was killed in the Cadeby Colliery explosion of 1912,

He was at one time manager of the Wath Main and Manton Main (Worksop) collieries. He has been president of the Midland Institute of Mining Engineers.

Mr. Norman Hulley who has ben manager of Denaby Main Colliery since 1931 has been appointed agent and manager of the pit and Mr. David Cowburn, who has been manager of Cadeby Colliery (Conisborough) since February, 1937, is  agent and manager of this pit.
