Young Boxer

A young boxer half whom we shall be hearing more a 15 year old Martin Higgins, son of Mr T Higgins, 82, Doncaster Road, Denaby.

He is already in the fourth round of the Cadet Championship of All England, and so far as had eight fights and won them all.

He holds five titles: 1947/48 Northern Counties’ Army Cadet Championship, Mexborough Cadet Battalion Championship, Yorkshire Cadet Championship, Midlands Cadet Championship and Yorkshire Youth Club Championship (1947).

He fights under 8st. 7Ibs. and his next bid is for the Bantamweight Cadet Championship of All England. In the fourth round he fights at Newcastle on February 28th.

Martin trains under George Frost at Swinton Manor Road Youth Club.
