Fatal accident.

Yesterday the Doncaster Borough coroner, held an inquest at the Doncaster infirmary on the body of John Midgley, who died at that institution on Wednesday night.

Deceased was employed in the construction of the Conisbrough tunnel in connection with the Doncaster new Water Works.

On the 19th ult. He signalled a man at the top of the shaft to wind the windlass, he getting on the chain. After he had descended for about 10 yards. He was struck by a descending bucket and knocked to the bottom of the shaft.

On assistance being rendered, it was found he had broken his thigh.

He was conveyed to the Doncaster infirmary, where he died on Wednesday night.

The jury returned a verdict that death resulted from injuries accidentally received.
