Scouts Honour.

Kings Scout James Corney, of 19 Melton Street, Denaby Main, has received an invitation to take part in the annual St Georges parade of Scouts at Windsor Castle on Sunday.

Scout Corney, who is only 14 ½ has been a member of the third Doncaster (Denaby Main) troop for just over four years.

As a Patrol Leader he has worked hard during the past few weeks to enable him to qualify for the necessary badges, and now that he has achieved this object he is eagerly looking forward to his first visit to the historic Castle.

Mrs Corney told our representative that her son had taken a keen interest in the Scout movement ever since he joined four years ago. He was a member of the successful local team that won an ambulance shield two years ago, and also a member of the team that won a swimming trophy last summer.

He secured his first class award in 1937 and was made a Kings Scout in June the following year.

Like other members of the troop, James has answered the call for ARP volunteers, having enrolled as a messenger boy .
