Accident at Denaby Main colliery

A young married man named Joseph Nettle ship, residing at Mexborough, was early on Tuesday morning engaging lifting bricks by the steam hoist at the above mine, but the chain being shortened, the cage was lifted too high and had to be lowered. As this was being done to receive the corve filled with bricks, the unfortunate man by some means slipped his foot, and the corve turned over on him, producing both external and internal injuries. He was taken to the Doncaster infirmary
