Ilkeston Town 0 Denaby United 0
This must rank as one of United best points of the season, a feat equal to that of beating Midland League leaders Loughborough United last month.
For it was achieved with a below strength team on opponents pitch and with only 10 men for more than half the game.
Once again, the defence, superbly marshalled by player manager Harry Hough and with him also setting a magnificent example, came through with flying colours.
Hough´s display was one of the best seen at Ilkeston this season. His positional play was top-class and twice he caused forwards who were completely through – Langford and Heath – to make fatal errors in shooting
Denaby lost outside left Robuck with an ankle injury just before half-time. At that stage. Ilkeston had held the edge, but with Denaby, the forward line made by Monk, dangerous in their rare attacks.
In the second half, Denaby fell back on defence. Mom became an additional centre half, and frequently United had nine men in defence.
They tackled speedily and with determination and put the home forward line completely out of its stride.
In the main a youthful side, Denaby gave a display of which they could well be proud
