Assault on Conisborough Station Master.
On Wednesday at the Doncaster West Riding Police Court, Fred Bartle March gate, Doncaster, was charged with being drunk and assaulting Charles Peter Richards, stationmaster, Conisborough.
Prosecutor said that while he was collecting the tickets from the 8.15 train from Sheffield on the previous day, he saw the prisoner in one of the carriers fast asleep.
He roused the prisoner, and asked him for his ticket. Prisoner could not find it, and did not know what station he had got in at.
He alighted from the train, with assistance, and when prosecutor asked him his name struck him on the chest.
Prisoner pulled off his boots, and tried to strike prosecutor, but was prevented by a porter; afterwards knocking the stationmaster down as they were walking to the latter’s office.
He was fined 5 shillings for being drunk, and 10 shillings and costs for the assault.
