Mexborough and Swinton Times, December 10.

A Bastardy Case from Conisborough.

Bartle Dawson, labourer, of Tickhill, was charged with being the father of an illegitimate child, the mother of which was a single woman named Hannah Grindle, of Conisborough.

Mr Hall appeared for the defendant.

The case occupied a long time, and on the conclusion of the evidence, the chairman said the bench consider it so unsatisfactory that they could not make an order.

When the defendant left the court he was followed by the complainant and a number of women, and there was quite an uproar, until some policeman was sent to quell the disturbance.
