Bathing in the River at Conisborough.

Thomas Newsome, miner; Arthur Alftree, William Crookes, Albert Goodwin, and Hugh Rice, pony driver’s of new Conisborough, were all summoned for bathing near the footpath at Conisborough on 2 August.

PC Barnett said that at 4:30pm on the day named he was on duty in plain clothes, in company with PC Kilner and Richardson near the Glass Works, new Conisborough, where they found the defendants bathing in the River Don.

He had received numerous complaints from persons with reference to bathers.

PC Richardson, corroborated.

Newsome, who appeared was fined the costs, 6/6, the others 1/6 and the costs.
