Bishop at Conisbrough.

On Sunday, the Bishop of Sheffield, the Right Reverent F.Taylor, visited Conisbrough Parish Church for the evening service.

The church was full to capacity and extra chairs had to be used. A party of about 70 or 80 members of the Methodist Church attended.

The United Sunday Schools Queen, Patricia cross, and the G.S.Queen, Christine Baxter, were present with their retinues.

Also present was the chairman of Conisbrough Urban Council, Cllr J.Stewart with other members and officials. About seven or eight people from the Vickers previous parish, Wortley, were also there.

After the service, there was a reception in the Church Hall, which was attended by between 200 and 300 people. The church was decorated with flowers and flowering plants, the latter provided by the Parks Department of the Urban Council, while the flowers were provided by the congregation.

There was a tremendous number of helpers – both men and women.
