Breakage at Denaby Colliery.
An extensive breakage, causing considerable damage occurred in the fan shaft at the Denaby Colliery, on Wednesday night. The breakage was followed by a loud report, which caused some alarm.
As a result of the accident the ventilation of the mine has been somewhat interfered with, but work has been continued, except in the more remote parts.
The affair will involve the colliery company in considerable financial loss, but actually no personal injury was incurred.
The fact that the engineers, after careful consideration, deem it advisable to work the mine is hopeful, as if the pit was set down over 1600 men and boys will be affected.
