This is the story of James Chapman from Conisbrough told by his daughter Connie Bailey.
James fought with the First Battalion, Scots Guards and was invalided in 1918 with a gunshot wound to the chest, described as ‘Mild’.
The notebook shown was penetrated by the bullet and so saved his life
