Gunner Walter Coley

Serving in this country is Gunner Walter Coley, aged 20, of 75, Doncaster Road, Denaby Main. He worked at Denaby Main Colliery before being called to the Colours.

Herbert Lifsey

A.B. Seaman Herbert Lifsey, 53, Athelstane Road, Conisborough, had served a year in Chinese waters when war broke out. He looks forward to his copy of the “South Yorkshire Times” each week. A keen footballer, he was formerly a Mexborough District boy. Before joining the Navy he worked at Denaby Main Colliery.

Charles Keywood

Stoker Petty Officer Charles Keywood of 3, John Street, Denaby Main, returned to duty recently after a five days furlough. He has been 11 years in the Navy and was recalled at the outbreak of war. He is serving in a minesweeper. He is very cheery and maintains the spirit characteristic of our Navel men
