Cruelty to a Pit Pony at Cadeby.

Robert Price, pony driver, Denaby, was summoned by the colliery company for having cruelly kicked a pony at Cadeby on the fifth inst.

In reply to the chairman, the defendant admitted his guilt.

Mr Gichard, who prosecuted, stated that the defendant attached four tubs to the pony, normally three, because of this the animal was unable to pull.

After having made several ineffectual attempt to do so, defendant twice kicked the pony, which upon subsequent examination, was discovered to have four marks upon it, the result of the defendants violence.

It was evident that a great amount of force had been used.

Find 20 shillings and costs.
