Kingswood will be opening their Dearne Valley Centre next week, in a historic year, upon the site of the former Earth Centre and Cadeby Colliery. The site will accomodate children from all over the UK and internationally and the Management are keen to preserve the heritage of the area. They have been in continual contact with the Cadeby Main Colliery Memorial Group and today, 2nd March 2012,the CEO of Kingswood, Peter Gilbert, handed the Group Secretary, Jim Beachill, a cheque for £1,500 as a contributiontowards the fund for the memorial.
The site isremarkable and as well as retaining some of the Earth Centre features Kingswood have added numerousinnovative hands oneducation techniquesand classrooms with state of art technology. The accomodation blocks for children and teachers are impressive and have been named after former local collieries.
