This match produced some sound, but dull batting, and lasted from noon until seven o´clock, ending in an open draw.
Mansfield who are leaders of the Bassetlaw league brought a strong site, and taking first knock scored 230, thanks mainly to solid batted by J. Chester (61), H. McCall (34) and the Mansfield captain, J.White (46 not out). The Denaby Capt, H.W.Smith, was the most successful bowler, with six for 53, Arthur Robinson taking four for 64. Denaby were left two hours and a half in which to get the runs and stolidly batted time out. Narroway, the top scored with 32, was at the wicket and hour and a half, and was twice missed before being smartly taken at the wicket. The Mansfield bowlers were very steady and accurate, butthey weretreated with exaggerated respect, except one bright interlude supplied by Widdowson .
