Drunkenness – P.C. takes Drunk in Wheelbarrow to Mexborough

Drunkenness.



Edward Brett, labourer, Conisborough, was charged at the West Riding Please Court at Doncaster, on Monday, before C.E.S.Cook Esq, with being drunk on the highway.

PC Moore stated that he found defendant very drunk in high Street, Mexborough on Saturday night, the 12th inst, using disgusting language, in consequence of which he locked him up.

The bench, inflicted a fine of 2s 6d and costs total 11s 11d (59p)


Richard Morton was also charged with a similar offence at Conisborough.

PC Munro, stated that at 9. this 20 on Saturday night he found the defendant very drunk in Church Street, Conisborough.

He was so drunk that he was obliged to get a wheelbarrow and wheel him to the lock-up at Mexborough (approx 3 to 4 miles!)

Fined 5s and costs 9s 5d
