Conisbrough Home Guard had their most ambitious exercise yet on Sunday when they engaged about 100 members of an army unit in the Parks and Conanby area.
The soldiers were supposed to represent enemy parachutists and were dropped from three or four troop carrying planes, which had managed to struggle to South Yorkshire.
The Home. Guard used telephonic communication between headquarters, and two of their points had maintained messages with the two other points by means of motorcyclist messages.
