Irregularities in School Attendance at Conisbrough

Mr Downs, school attendance officer, proved the following cases of irregularity in attendance at the Conisbrough Board School. Mr Downs also observed that irregularities in school attendance at Conisbrough was very gross

William Whitham

Son, 9 year only passed the first standard

78 of possible 169 in 18 weeks

190 out of 425 for year

Fined 5 shilling, incl costs

The defendant complained that the child did not receive remark when he went to school late (being told that this was the rule)
