Two Generations

Mr. and Mrs. Jones of 36, Tickhill Street, Denaby Main, have three sons and a grandson serving with the Forces: they have all been with the B.E.F. in France were later at the Dunkirk withdrawal, and are now in England.

The eldest son is Gunner Percy Jones, who is married and whose wife lives at 36, Warmsworth Street, Denaby Main. He had had eight years experience of the Army training with the local K.O.Y.L.I.

Gunner Harold Jones is also married and lived at 16, The Crescent, Conanby, but his wife is now at Edlington. He too, belonged in the K.O.Y.L.I. and was a reservist who had seen seven years service in India and was recalled at the outbreak of war.

Gunner Frank Jones lived with his parents at the above address. He is attached to a light anti-aircraft battery.

Their grandson is Gunner James Preston who joined voluntarily before war broke out and was later drafted to France and came home via Dunkirk. Gunner Preston´s wife lives in William Street, Denaby Main. They are all doing well and look forward to reading the local news which they get from the “South Yorkshire Times”.
