‘Kip’ Races

A rather amusing story has come to the notice of the writer from Cadeby.

In that locality there is a miner, who is commonly known as “Kip.”

On Friday, in Doncaster race week, “Kip” journeyed to Doncaster with the intention of seeing the races, paying return bus fare.

During the day “Kip” was accosted by a gentleman, who challenged him to run to Mexborough for a pint of beer.

Although “Kip” had paid his return bus fare, he immediately set off running to Mexborough, and on such a scorching hot day he certainly deserved the reward for which the challenge was made.
