January 1941

Mexborough and Swinton Times January 4.

Local Broadcaster

Mr Richard Sharp, formerly of Conisbrough, has been on the air twice this week.

On Wednesday after the six o’clock news, he described how he helped a fire watcher to deal with some incendiary bombs during the recent fire raid on London, and emphasised how much easier such work would be if owners of business premises would provide adequate firefighting equipment and make their premises easily accessible when not occupied.

On Thursday at 1.15.he read a paper on germs spreading in public air raid shelters.

Mr Sharp’s microphone technique is extremely good; he is very easy to listen to, and is rapidly coming to the forefront in the broadcasting world.
