A Notorious Character from Conisborough.

Joseph Thompson, greengrocer and fishmonger, Conisborough, was brought up before the Borough Magistrates on Monday morning, on a charge of being drunk and disorderly in Sepulchre gate, Doncaster, on Saturday night.

PC Cobb stated the case and said he had warned the defendant before.

PC Hill corroborated.

The defendant said he had been fearfully kicked by one of the police, and he could show the wounds.

Superintendent Gregory said when the defendant was let out on bail he never made any complaint of the kind.

The bench said the defendant had been before the West Riding Police Court 19 times previously, but they would treat this as a first offence before the Borough Bench, and inflicted a fine of five shillings and costs total 14 shillings
