Denaby have a Goal to Spare.

Denaby United 3 Conisborough Welfare 2

Neither Gainsborough, Frickley nor Rotherham was able to send a team to Tickhill Square last Saturday, and at the last minute a match was fixed up with Conisborough Welfare. At no time throughout the whole 90 min the Denaby really exert themselves, but there were times when the sign players showed their abilities thus showing the small handful of spectators what can be expected if a suitable, competition is formed.

Within 10 min Welfare gained a lucky lead. A shot from Whitehead hit a tuft of grass and the ball was deflected away from Gibson. Midway through the half Gibbs put in a centre which Black headed past day, but the point was disallowed for an infringement.

Later, Gibbs struck the bar with day well beaten, then both Black and Ardron hit the post.

Soon after resuming, Denaby went ahead when goals were scored by Gibbs, Bates and Ardron. They used up towards the end welfare again scored when Barks shot through a crowd of players.
