Over 300 children in Parade.
Over 300 children from Denaby St Albans school held their May Queen Parade on Sunday, and after the parade congregated in the school yard, where the ceremonial crowningof thestatue of the Virgin Mary was performed by the May Queen. This was followed by a service in the church, conducted by a Fr. J.Hutton.
There were in all five Queens and a King and the King placed a Crown at the feet of the Virgin.
May Queen was Sharon Harrison,her cushionbearer was Paul Burton, maids of honour, T Fitzwilliam, C. Maverby, J Henshaw, H. Scott, J Brett and K Henegan and pages M.Whitaker, S.Hill, J McGarr, A.Mahan.
James Wallace was the May King and Jake Tomlin his cushion bearer. Pages were T Hurby, A.Sutton, B.Holden, J.Connelly, M.O Connor and J.Hartley.
Queen of Rosary was Alanna McGarry and maids of honour, S Keywood, A Best, P.Roche, and Y.Reddington.
Queen of Violets was Rosemary O’Grady and her maids of honour were T Nielsen and T Handley. Her pages were D Cunningham and B Bucknall
Patricia Hughes was Queen of lilies, and Mary Henshaw, Queen of Roses
