Proposed New Cooperative in Conisborough

The proposed new working men’s Co-operative Society in Conisbrough is not dead as some people imagine, but on the contrary is very much alive.

The committee have agreed a move with Mr J Lowe for taking his premises in High Street, and I noticed that the shops have been cleaned out and prepared for business.

Mr J Webster, who has until quite recently been engaged in business as one of the partners in the firm, which traded under the title of Messrs Martin and Webster, in Church Street, Conisbrough, has been appointed stores manager, and it is proposed to have everything in readiness to commence business on 1 January.

A good number of persons have promised to join this new society, and the venture promises to be a great success.
