An Exciting Chase

On Friday morning the Denaby villagers all “turned out” for a bit of sport.

The huntsmen were in the neighbourhood of Conisborough crags and having caught sight of a hare gave chase.

The lively creature got a good deal ahead of the gents in red jackets, and scampering across the fields, came eventually into the Denaby Street.

There it seemed out of its element, especially with the noise of the youths and men who endeavoured to stop it, and at last it bounded over the wall round the church.

It was then lost sight of for some time, but a good search resulted in the discovery that it had lodged itself in a hen cote, where it was bagged and taken to the hunt.
