Well-known Conisbrough Postman is to marry
Doncaster register office is to be the scene of a pleasant occasion for the people of Conisbrough, for everybody who knows the cherry face of Mr Lee the postman will be glad to hear that 51 years old Horace, of Willow Street, Conisbrough, is getting married there.
Said Mr Lee yesterday: “Everybody is so fussy and people keep stopping me with their congratulations.”
Mr Lee’s Bride to be is Miss E.Street (52) of Ouse Terrace, Conisbrough, who was employed at the canteen of G.E.C.Ltd, Swinton, until her recent illness.
Mr Lee explained that he had known Miss Street for some time but it was not until her recent illness, when he had to pay regular visits to her home to deliver registered mail, that they became friendly.
Mr Lee the postman, has been tramping the street of Conisbrough for the past 20 years, but has also worked as a projectionist at the Globe Cinema, Conisbrough, and the Denaby Empire.
“We hope to have a quiet wedding at the register office on March 25,” he concluded, “but the trouble is that we have got so many friends and relations that if we had got the Welfare Hall we couldn’t get them all in.”
