After many years of family history research, I recently discovered that on a census dated 1911 of containing my Great Grandmother and her offspring. Arthur Wood (Aged 20 born 1891) was named but crossed out as he was a soldier at barracks and would have been counted on their census record. I had another Uncle also named Arthur Wood who sadly passed away in Nov 1943 as a result of Injuries received during the evacuation of Dunkirk. I had never heard of Arthur Wood (1891) as he did not appear in the 1891 or 1901 census record of my great grandmother (Elizabeth) , he would have been 10 a the time, however Elizabeth’s husband died of Typhoid in 1897, so he may have been staying with relatives in the 1901 census and may not have been born at the time of the 1891 census. Arthur (1891) was married to someone called Maudie Wood and I would dearly love to know more. Given that someone has found a photo of Arthur Wood (1891) I wondered if there is any more information about him or other family members. If I am correct my grandfather Thomas would have been his elder brother.
